Decibel X:dB Sound Level Meter App Reviews

Times out too quickly

The app let the phone go to sleep mode so you cant play and watch the decibel meter

Excellent update!

New UI, and added a summary sheet. Also lets you take photo - which is well labeled with those summary stats and date time stamps! Nice work peeps.

Great sound meter

If you ever wanted to know if your hearing is being damaged, this app can verify. The meter is reliable and the history shows spikes.

Does its job. Full of ads.

This app works well enough. A full-screen interstitial ad when closing the settings seems excessive.

Handy app to measure sound at events

Nice app that is easy to use. Helpful if you attend concerts or other events and are concerned about your hearing!

Doesnt work

Wont pick up any sounds. It says it doesnt have permission to use microphone but it never asked for access in the app or in settings. Also the ads are extremely irritating on there

I like it

I have to use hearing aids and I can no longer rely on my volume indicator on the TV to tell me how "loud" the TV is. One station may provide adequate volume for me at an indicator of 35, another may need to be set at 49. A small difference for me may be a huge difference for my wife. This app lets me set the volume to the dB my wife has picked as "non-annoying".

Works surprisingly well

Im in the music biz, a guitarist by trade. Play rock, hard rock, pop, Pop country, whatever is required. The key to having a great mix these days is to keep stage volume down as low as possible and let the PA system along with a qualified sound engineer handle the the front of house and then using fold back monitors or in my case "in-ear monitors to get the perfect mix I want to hear without affecting anyone else. The Apple Watch works great! I can read each instrument and vocals DB level right from the stage and track down the offending "too loud player" and show them the sound pressure that they are pushing off the stage with a number and level them out to a consistent level for the sound engineer. To work his/her magic. Good app, easy to use and you have hard evidence at how loud each player is with a db level so they can adjust. Good stuff!! "

Im okay with ads, but....

Not ones Im forced to view for a set amount of time. Every time you change a setting, you have to watch an ad for at least five seconds. Fine-tuning the settings could take you quite some time! The app itself seems to be very well done, both visually and functionally. Lots of settings allows a highly-customizable app, if you have the time to watch ads. :) With many of the free apps, ads are the "price" you pay; Im fine with that. This app, however, seeks to annoy you to the point that youll break down and buy the "Pro" version.

User friendly and with a great watch app

Its a straightforward app, but it seems to do the job accurately, and I really like the simple and responsive Apple Watch app. Works great!

I love it

I love to finally learn about all the different stuff they have on this app. Just updated, I should of did it right away

Rip off

Paid for Pro version, but still get adds and limited functionality. Suggest you try a different db app.

Measurements in Question

New version greatly superior to previous versions with more options. But, db measurements seem to be way off. What was 85db is now in mid 70s. Which is correct and why? Discrepancies are too large. Is another update necessary?

Simple enuf

Simple enuf to use. Not bad.

Works really well! Esp. fir the price. ;)

Great app to measure SPL and tweak speaker levels for that sweet spot in the hot seat. Recommend using @ 70db with pink noise! Good luck!

Annoying Ads

App works well. Nice features except for the annoying ads.

Thanks for the update. But those Ads..

I really like this app and even latest update, thanks. But I hate ads and this app have it. Please add maybe separate premium app because I hate iAP.

great tool

nice to know just how loud things are

Inaccurate Reading

12/11/16: The previous version used to be more accurate. Now its measurement is off, probably 20-30 dB (A weighting) lower than previous edition. Im not sure if its because of the new version, or because of the new iOS. App needs to be calibrated.

Inaccurate and too many ads

Last week it gave me conversation range around 54db. Today, its quiet and it gives me 68db. What gives. Also, I dont mind ads but this app goes beyond what is normal for an ad supported app. Every little action forces you to watch or even listen to an ad. Unprofessional!
