What the?!! Update
I withdraw my previous review. Updated to 5.1.1 then I hard reset my iPhone and am satisfied now that meter readings are accurate, particularly for dBA. You may want to do this too to ensure hardware, iOS and app versions are all in synch. My confidence is restored. Kudos!
This was one of my bread and butter apps worthy of 5 stars (imho). Now, this version seems to be off significantly in its measurements of SPL. My estimate is the deviation ranges from 20-50dB LOWER than measurements taken prior to this release. I love the new UI/GUI, especially the ability to set a dBA filter/freq bias. But the enhanced functionality is useless if the readings are not accurate. Accuracy was a hallmark of this app and others from this developer. Fact is this app was recommended by someone professionally engaged in hearing deficit prevention. Because the readings are so low, the 10th Decibel app is putting the hearing health of users at risk, the opposite of what it was designed to do. I dont mean to suggest the app developer wants to harm anyones hearing or produce a product that displays misleading measurements. I just hope we see a new release (5.1) soon that will properly calibrate the mics on all iPhones running iOS 10.1.1. Lets hope...
